Al tho there not of great quality (and in my defence my cameras broke, thank god its insured) but these are some of my favorite photos, as they show (as you can see by the contact sheet) great movement which in reality shows of what a five year old gets up to.
These are my best images from the film taken, and although I love them, they don't show much personality, there just simple portraits. I initially wanted to do some B&W photos drawing influences from such photographers as Sally Mann and Andrew Banks, but that to me(and anyone that knows her) is not what Mia, or any five year old for that matter.
For my next set of images i have tried to be more relaxed, doing the images digitally as this gives me more freedom as Mia doesn't really like sitting still and I don't blame her.
I have been looking at William Egelstons work I would like to try and explore with colour.
I've done the usual thing that i do of being too varied in my subjects. I know this seems like I've wasted time be for I've got to this point, but i really wanted to get a feel of most aspects of my life, when i read my blog back it seems like I've focused on Hobie's and interests and that was not my aim of this blog it was to explore what was really important to me which is why I now come to Mia, when I was first given this project she was the first thing that came to mind but I didn't want to just put a load of photos up of her, when really for me doing exactly that is answering the brief more than anything I've already posted, I just wish id have done this from the start. So here we go I first wanted to get into her shoes and see the world as she does this I feared would be a collection of images from her head hight..........so.........i have spent the last two weeks following her round with my camera, as you will see shes was not very happy about this which you will see.

If I am honestly going to do this project on 'My world' then i must have some of these next images as my interests in such art and my Friends play an important role, this project has made me realize, well remember, that the relationships and interactions which you have with people are what makes up our life's which is why(even though I'm not going to go down this path) I had to include this next set of images.
Ok so my first lot of images I have decided to focus on my hobbies, obviously taking photos of anything comes under that categories but here are some shots I took of Friends dry slope skiing/snowboarding, I love winter sports especially ice hockey get in to doing this my self if I had the time or effect but for now I'm satisfied with taking pictures and freezing my ass of.
I found this shoot difficult as the lighting wasn't great and I have never done 'sport style' photography be for but it was nice to have the challenge.

Initial Ideas

Right iv spent a lot of time racking my brain as to what 'My world' is first i thought the literal world in which we live IE where we live, the environment, our individual cultures, but personally if i want to do any thing worth while with this project it needed to be something that I enjoy taking photos of and am actually passionate about.
I was stood in my kitchen the other day and basically this is what i saw (see above images) to one side my friends hobbies and general interest and to the other my family primarily my daughter. these two parts two my life, other than university obviously, are basically what i feel passionate about and what i really care about so this is what i have decided to do my project on.
These next two images I have decided to post together as they show what I feel is the importance of documentary photography. from a young age i have took an inquisitive interest in war and conflict, I sometimes question weather such atrocities would go unnoticed if such images didn't exist, but then again that makes me question how such events can be photographically documented while the photographer stands by, one would wonder where morally you would stand in such circumstances, I personally could not do it.
The first image 'People about to be shot' Robert Haeberle 1969. As the title suggests this was taken moments before the shooting of these people during the notorious My Lai massacre. The more I look at this photo the more meaning full and emotionally charged it becomes. In this instant I find it incredibly difficult to see the line between documenting for the purpose or change and just to exploit for one personal gain.
The image which accompanies this one is 'Shell-shocked soldier' 1968 Don McCullin tackles the issues of the psychological effects of war which I find is much productive in its purpose. What really gets to me about this image is the wild but subdued look in the soldiers eyes this says more to me about war than say a image of a battle Field mid battle.

First image-sorry to confuse you all but I've finally got my scanner up and running so here is my first influential image please refer to first post for text.
As promised this is my second image, this image is part of Misrach's project exploring landscapes of the American West, he came across two copys of playboy which had been used for target practice. For me this couldn't say more about, obviously not the American landscapes, but American society, consumerism, celebrity obsession and all shadowed by the looming feel of violence.

Right, I know the saying is "better late than never" but with this one I feel iv taken the piss. But never the less here it is.
influential photographs, now this may seem like an easy task, but to really show you all what has made me love(or hate) certain photography in only five images...well, I just cant. My first was going to be 'Christopher Isherwood talking to bob Holman, Santa Monica, California, 14th march1983' by David Hockney. No matter how hard i have tried due to copyright issues this image will not be making it on to my blog, Its actually pissed me of that much it ran through my mind to cut it out my book and plaster it to my monitor, but that wouldn't help anyone. I truly love this image and urge anyone to look it up(Photography: A Cultural History 2nd addition,pg 393). Within this Montage Hockney depicts only segments of the image in which he feels are the most important, or which he noticed in the room with the main subjects being Isherwood and Holman are actually multiply depicted. when I first saw this image I thought he must have sat in that room and listed what he looked at in order then took photos of just those focal points, even if that's not what he did, and I'm sure it isn't, I find this method of photography really intriguing, almost like story telling. If I ever find two spare minutes I want to try it out.
Second picture, and you will actually get an image with this one guys is, Richard Misrach's 'Playboy No. 94 [Ray Charles], from Desert Cantos 1989-1991'.
